  • Rex has represented individual clients, celebrities, local media, major banks and financial institutions, statutory bodies and institutions, commercial and servicing establishments, multinational corporations and listed companies. He has acted for local and overseas clients in cross-border litigations, such as in the PRC and other jurisdictions (Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Italy, Israel, Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland and the United States etc.). He has acted for the parties involved in a derivative action and the proceedings in the BVI; the major banks in Dubai and Switzerland for their claims and injunction applications; the major investors in India for the recovery of their loss and protection of interests in Hong Kong; the parties in a litigation concerning the sale and purchase of a major infrastructure in Vietnam; and the parties involved in litigation in the United Kingdom and Australia concerning trust and asset recovery.
  • Rex has received training and conducted academic research in arbitration, negotiation, mediation, and dispute resolution during his study of the Master of Laws in Arbitration and Dispute Resolution at the University of Hong Kong for professional accreditation.

  • Arbitration & Commercial Litigation
    Acted for the parties involved in arbitration cases concerning international trade, commercial and contractual disputes, and private construction matters.
  • Advised on the appropriateness and enforceability of arbitration agreements, formation of arbitral tribunals, enforceability of arbitral awards, referral to arbitration and stay of court proceedings, seeking court remedies in aid of arbitration.
  • Advised on arbitration, mediation and other dispute resolution options in lieu of litigation.
  • Acted for the parties in commercial litigation involving commercial matters, securities, corporate governance and directors’ or shareholders’ disputes.
  • Acted for the directors and shareholders of a company in a derivative action in Hong Kong on the wrongful transfer of companies’ assets, diversion of business opportunities and breach of directors’ duties of director and making other applications under the Companies Ordinance (Cap 622).
  • Applied to enforce court judgments obtained in Hong Kong, Mainland or overseas, including to petition for the winding up of a company on insolvency grounds and making related applications under the Companies (Winding Up and Miscellaneous Provisions) Ordinance (Cap. 32).
  • Applied for interlocutory injunctions (including Mareva Injunction and Chabra Injunction) and defended such injunction application and applied to vary the injunction order granted.
  • Acting for the parties in various matters concerning consumer rights and protection against unfair trade practice and unconscionable contract.

    Advised on and acted for clients involved in the SFC investigation or enforcement proceedings on regulatory matters (including but not limited to insider dealing or false trading market misconduct allegations).

  • Contentious Probate Matters
    Acted for the personal representatives and beneficiaries and advised on various contentious probate matters, such as the validity of a will, the appointment of executor, grant of probate and disputes concerning the administration of the estate.
  • Advised and defended the claims of family provision under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependents) Ordinance, Cap. 481.

    Handled litigation concerning land (including residential properties, commercial units, common parts of a building or land lots) and/or properties with disputes involving the legal issues of resulting trust or common intention constructive trust or the beneficial ownership thereof.
